Below are messages from our 2012 captain - Hadliegh Parkes:

On Saturday the 8th of September, Auckland played against the old enemy from down the motorway, Waikato. It was a special day for the men in blue and white as it was also heritage day and it was great to see so many past players at Eden park cheering us on.
We didn't have a great record against Waikato over the past five years so we were very keen to put a performance out on the field that us, the past players and supporters could be proud of.

The first half was a tight affair with both teams scoring points when they were in the oppositions half. Half time score sore us leading Waikato 18-12. We had the wind in the first half and knew that we were going to have to score some early points in the second half if we were to walk away with the victory.

The second half sore us score two early tries to take the score out to 32-15. Waikato then put us under a huge amount of pressure in the last 25 minutes but the boys really stepped it up on defence and Waikato only managed to cross our line once with the full time score being Auckland 32 Waikato 22.

A great all round performance by us that I hope the supporters were proud of. A special day for the past players on heritage day and I hope you enjoyed your afternoon watching us beat the old enemy Waikato.

We travel to play BOP in Rotorua this Friday but return to Eden park on Wednesday the 19th to play Taranaki.

Sunday the 1st of September sore us take on a Manawatu side that where looking to come to Auckland and beat us on our home turf. After a disappointing game on the Wednesday night, we wanted to go out and put a performance on the park that us and our fans could be proud of.
We started the game with the wind behind us and were looking to put some points on the board early.
We managed an early penalty but then let Manawatu come down our end of the field and walk away with an easy penalty as well. Our first try come from the next kick off where we retained the ball and managed to score in the corner. We managed to cross the line a further three times in the first half to Manawatu's one making the half time score 31-13.
We turned around into the wind in the second half and looked to keep the ball in hand a lot more. We managed to score four further tries and defended well not letting Manawatu cross our line again. Final score ended up being 59-16.
It was a good all round performance by the men in Blue and White with the forwards dominating the breakdown and allowing the backs to score some good tries.
Thank you to the supporters that come out. The team really appreciates your support and we are looking to put another good performance on field for you guys this coming Saturday afternoon against Waikato.
Have a good week.
Hadleigh Parkes
